Our Story
What We Do
Our organization is dedicated to aiding the most vulnerable in our community. Established in Burnsville, NC, we’ve aided the less fortunate and vulnerable in Yancey County since 1983. Many of those we helped were able to get back on their feet and start their lives anew.

Thrift Store
Many items donated to Reconciliation House are not needed for clients. These items are priced and sold in our Thrift Store. Our thrift sales are very important since they are a major source of revenue for the ministry. All funds received from thrift sales go directly to support the ministry to help offset administrative costs and provide services to clients. We feel that our Thrift Store is also a ministry since is provides a place to shop where items are priced at near yard sale prices. Low-income families may shop for items and extra clothing that they cannot afford to purchase in a regular retail store. Clients are given vouchers for free clothing they can select from our sales floor.
